We have always been ocean people. Our meeting was no different. We met at a beach, Seal Beach, California to be exact. ...and what was supposed to be a normal night-out with a group of friends ended with a night of laughing, dancing and flirting, all to the tune of Sweeeeet Caaaaroline, oh Oh OOOH!!
Although their was a larger group of friends, She was there with her sister. He was there with his work BFF. The sister and the work BFF, are in fact actual BFF's. They plotted! The way secret cupids plot. Either by happy coincidence or by nights of scheming, they made sure we would meet that night. In passing, He had been mentioned to Her previously. "Hey there's a guy you should meet". She however, was NEVER mentioned to him. Most likely on purpose, knowing he would fuck it up. Smart move girls, because he would have.
The plan seemed to be, to put them in the same room, not say a thing, add some wings and tequila and see what happens! What happenned is the wings made him happy and the tequila made him lick her face. Apparently she was into that!! Because the rest of the night they danced and talked and gravitated around and towards each other.
I wish I could say, "and that was the end of that story". But it got way more interesting than that. Because what actually happenned was, she told him she wasnt going to be available to hang out anytime soon. Blowing him off right? Actually she wasnt. Because if you know Myriam, you know she is the total busy bee. Gabe lost hope, thinking she was just giving him the cold shoulder. But something saved the relationship. COVID!!
As Covid started shutting everything down, Myriams days started miraculously becoming available. They took advantage and met up as soon a possible, their first date would be the next Thursday. Date went great. When would they hang out again? 2 days later on Saturday. Saturday went even better. She spent the night...um...cause um...it was late and she was tired.
They woke up the next morning to the news that the global pandemic had shut everything down. No one was to leave their homes. People were supposed to shelter in place for the next week. Myriam and Gabe looked at each other with shock in their eyes. Gabe broke the silence first. "Want some breakfast"?
He cooked, they ate, and they fell for each other. They spent the rest of the week living together, sheltering from Covid and leaving only for toilet paper runs. They haven't left each others side since. And THAT everyone, "is the end of that story"!
